Restoration of Swell Bellows for Gulangyu Chinese Organ Museum

Gulangyu Organ Museum, Xiamen, China

The Swell bellows from the 1909 Norman & Beard organ has been completely releathered and restored. The organ was installed in the museum by our company in 2004. The original bellows leather, now 98 years old, had lasted extremely well but finally perished and required replacement. Our first Chinese trainee organ builder, Jia Jie Liu (pictured) assisted Ian Wakeley in this work, learning the various skills of bellows releathering.
